December 21 2012, the shortest day of 2012 will be your last, if you believe the Mayan calendar, and many people do. Even if you do not believe that the Mayan calendar foretells the end of the world, because many people DO believe, you had better pay attention because this date could well spark a world-wide human disaster that will prompt many people to consider if they need to get a 2012 survival guide, to“sandbag the house and buy more ammo”.
The Mayan Calendar and 2012
The Mayans were an advanced civilization reached its height from 300 A.D. to 900 A.D. and was known for their prowess with astronomy and for their step pyramids, which can still be seen all over Mexico. The Mayans predicted a final event which included a solar shift, a Venus transit, and violent earthquakes, all of which are interpreted as elements of the end of life on earth.
The Mayan calendar marks the end of the 13th Baktun. A baktun is a unit of time that corresponds roughly to every 394 years on the winter solstice. Some people interpret the end of the 13th Baktun in the Mayan calendar as the final event do to how important the number 13 was to the Mayans.
The date December 12, 2012 comes from an 1,300 year old artifact found in the 1960’s at the Tortuguero archeological site in Tabasco, Mexico. A second artifact found more recently at Comalcalco also references this same date.
It’s the End of the World As We Know It
Whether you believe that the Mayan calendar is a prediction or not, there are clear signs of a stressed out planet, and an overpopulated planet, at the brink of disaster. In the book Limits to Growth: 30-Year Update, published in 2004, the model of global resource consumption and production paints a very very grim picture of what live is starting to look like for people on Earth.
We are consuming the biological resources at a rate that exceed the ability of the planet to regenerate itself. If everyone on the planet lived a lifestyle like those in the U.S. do, we would require three Earths to support the current world population.
Ultimately, if you think the shit is going to hit the fan because of some ancient calendar and prediction, current scientific models, or simply because everyone ELSE thinks so, you owe it to yourself to protect yourself and your family, and plan on surviving the future as it unfolds.
